Cacti or Cactaceae is a family of flowering plants, of the order Caryophyllales, native through most of the Americas. Mexico has the biggest number and variety of cacti in the world. Virtually all cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are cacti, in fact, while Southern Africa has more succulents than any other similar region in the world, only one succulent (Rhisalis baccifera (mistletoe cactus) is a cactus.
